Shells
Late in the afternoon the sun shines down over the western hill and in through our windows spotlighting the green pottery my wife loves and many items we have collected over the years. Because of its brightness the background falls away to black and stark still life images emerge. The shells I picked up off the Caribbean ocean floor hiding behind reefs. The wooden cup was crafted by a woodcarver friend. The ruffled grouse feather came from a sweet little bird that befriended me during my walks and was sadly killed by a passing car. The memorial candle was photographed on the 7th day after my father-in-law was laid to rest. |
