Poppy Heart
Most of the shots in this category were taken in and around the gardens at my home in upstate New York. My wife is addicted to flowers and her plantings are beautiful. I found myself wanting to take pictures of everything. The spring begins with crocus and daffodils and then explodes into alliums, lupine, irises, and poppies, then enormous Peonies and dozens of little flowers tricking out the hidden places. Roses are next along with Hastas, Zimisafeuga, Helianthus, and myriad bulbs and day lilies. The colors are amazing. I find the structure of flowers is especially feminine. One of our orchids is downright sensual. There’s nothing special about taking photos of flowers, everybody does it. But the flowers! It’s very hard to be an atheist when you’re surrounded by flowers. |
