Pictograph - Magician
In the winter my daily walk lends itself to a lot of staring at the roadbed. Our country roads are made from oil and gravel and quickly yield up patterns to the freezing and thawing of our chilly upstate winters. A surprising number of images lie hidden there. I don’t know if others will appreciate them as much as I do but some are here for your perusal. Because they can be subtle, I have, in some cases, played with the existing color. These are the only photos on this website with which I have taken that liberty. I hope the purists will forgive me. The first images are called Pictographs because they remind me of the rock paintings of African Bushmen and Australian Aborigines. Made distinct by dried salt and morning wetness on the face of the winter pavement these images change daily depending on weather conditions. |
